We have started the countdown for Maison & Objet and we want you to know all about it!
This week we are talking about the long-awaited announcement of the Maison et Objet 2018 theme! The news are out, and lucky for you, we can’t wait to share it with you. So, without further ado, the theme for Maison & Objet January is… SHOW-ROOM! What? Yes! Let’s get to know everything!
For the upcoming interior design show in January, it was Agence NellyRodi’s turn to design the famous Inspirations Space and the Bookshop-Café. This year’s SHOW-ROOM concept was born from Agence NellyRodi’s consultants’ investigative work on multiple industrial, marketing and societal topics. Not only in the Inspirations Space and the Bookshop-Café, this year’s concept with also be discussed in the context of the lifestyle trends at L’Espace Conférences.
Maison & Objet asked Vincent Grégoire from Agence NellyRodi some questions… One of them was why did they end up choosing this concept and how would they define it. Grégoire explained that the financial crisis and the digital revolution have had a huge impact on our behaviors. What happened is that consumers who used to have a passive posture regarding their consumption habits have now found empowerment. Because of the digital age we are living in, consumers have access to all the information they might want, which leads to an easier way of comparing prices, sharing comments and even rating products.
What will this year’s Inspirations Space look like?
“Of course, I wanted the place to have a dramatic feel, with mirrors, glass display cases, spotlights, but I also wanted it to be interactive, to reflect the new dynamic initiated by social networks,” said Vincent Grégoire. Reflecting that wish, the space will be highly interactive, a place where “visitors will be asked to make their own selections and to explain their reasons for making such or such choices.”
What is the message behind this year’s SHOW-ROOM concept?
The designer told Maison & Objet that “the Inspirations Space is an invitation to question the status quo and take a stand, to overcome ennui.” We went on, saying that nowadays customers need a place where they can experience products and share their opinions in a truthful way. He ended, stating that “the point is no longer to please everyone, but to please one’s community.”
